Fishing Rod Cases
Last week a friend of mine went to a fishing trip with a few other anglers, but unfortunately he forgot to bring some fishing rod cases. He returned after a week feeling depressed and sad because both of his fishing rods were seriously damaged not because of a fishing error but because of an accident involving his equipment. This incident and others like them underscores the fact that anglers who are both professionals and non professionals need to have better fishing rod cases or protective covers, so as to safeguard their fishing rods from any accidental damage.
There is a growing trend among anglers now days of having many different fishing rods for fishing trips and fishes. Storing them while on a trip and in homes require specially designed fishing rod cases. These fishing rod cases also known as rod totes help in keeping your fishing rod in a compact environment. Fishing rod cases are found in many different shapes and sizes.
Here I will try to cover some of the most commonly manufactured and available fishing rod cases. The most common fishing rod carrying case is called ‘rigid tube’. A rigid tube can hold many rods at once. It is made of very strong plastic material from the outside and can absorb shocks. From the inside it is padded with soft rubber, it has very compact space for holding a rod, which makes it very secure in case there is a movement. Another less rigid case for a fishing rod is known as ‘rod sock’. A rod sock is basically an inexpensive nylon cloth that can be wrapped over the fishing rod. These rod socks are very useful to safeguard against dirt and the weather elements. Another very useful fishing rod case is the ‘combo caddie’. Combo caddies are very similar to bags. They are made of nylon and are padded from the inside. Combo caddies can provide excellent protection against moisture and dirt. Combo caddies are also available in water proof models. A simpler and less secure case is the ‘rod wrap’, which can wrap and bind together fishing rods. These wraps can solve the issue of many different wraps getting tangled together. Wraps also prove to be handy when transferring fishing rods from one place to another. Lastly we have the ‘rod totes’ that can store many fishing rods. Rod totes are made of strong plastic from the outside although lack of packing from the inside means that the safety of the rods is compromised. Rod totes can be used for transporting the fishing rods during a car, train or airplane travel.
Most people think that the prices of fishing rod cases would be very high owing to the fact that they provide safety to sometimes expensive fishing rods. This is a misnomer as most of the common fishing rod cases are not at all expensive. You can find many of these rod cases under 100$ on the market. Fishing Rod Cases are very effective in providing safety to the fishing rods and must be a part of every angler’s arsenal.
